Suntech Solar Panels Ranged Review

Suntech made their founder the first-ever solar billionaire, but how good are their panels?

In this review, we’ll offer you the stats and info you need to assess whether the world’s largest solar manufacturer is right for you.

Their Ultra V, Ultra S, and HiPower panels are the main Suntech options installed on homes, so those are the ones we’ll dissect for you below.

Without further ado, shall we look at the efficiency and reliability of these panels?

Let’s go.

Ultra V Series

Suntech’s Ultra V solar panel comes in a couple of different sizes.

There’s their standard panel that measures close to 2.2m in length, can pump out as much as 555W and reaches efficiencies as high as 21.5%.

Then there’s the Ultra V Mini which comes in at a compact 1.7m in length, has an output up to 410W and a max efficiency of 21%. An all-black option is available if you’re wanting a more uniform look.

While Suntech’s 12 year product warranty on the Ultra V Series isn’t class leading, it’s still OK when you consider the price. They offer good performance at a budget friendly price point.

Finally, being half cut, these panels aren’t afraid of a little bit of shade.

Ultra V Pro Series

The Ultra V Pro is Suntech’s flagship solar panel and builds on the Ultra V by making use of N-Type cells to deliver greater panel efficiency, as high as 22.3%.

They also have an edge over the standard Ultra V Series in terms of handling the heat, losing less of their production potential when the sun starts belting.

Ultra X Series

The Ultra X is Suntech’s biggest panel, both physically and in terms of power output.

Suntech claims the Ultra X Series has been designed to deliver cost savings at the time of installation.

They’re lighter, optimised for freight, and designed with ease of install in mind, meaning it’s cheaper to get these panels from the factory onto your roof.

If you want your system to cost less to install and gain savings upfront, then consider the Suntech Ultra X Series.

Just remember that they might not perform as well over the long term, impacting what you can save over the lifetime of the solar system.
