Solar Victoria’s solar battery rebate has now expanded to include 247 eligible postcodes as of March 7th. The Minister for Solar Homes Lily D’Ambrosio announced on Saturday that households in an extra 143 postcodes across the state are now available to apply for the Solar Homes battery rebate.
The solar battery rebate provides eligible households who already have an existing solar power system of 5kW or more with a discount up to the value of $4,838 towards installing battery storage.
“This is a great opportunity for households that already have solar panels to capitalise on their solar systems and take greater control of their energy bills.” Minister for Solar Homes Lily D’Ambrosio
The newly added postcodes which are eligible to receive the rebate can be viewed on Solar Victoria’s website here.
On top of the standard eligibility criteria, households must obtain approval to install a battery from their distribution network service and have not received a rebate through the Solar Homes Program previously.
“With 140 new postcodes now added to the list, around 35 per cent of Victorian households are eligible to receive a battery rebate through our Solar Homes program.” Minister for Solar Homes Lily D’Ambrosio
Solar Victoria has also stated that to further strengthen Victoria’s electricity grid, the Labor Government will look to expand the battery rebate program to controlled batteries, microgrids and virtual power plants from July 2020.
